The aim of this research is to provide the Scottish Government with timely, robust information on International Equality Duties and Legislation to enable a strong evidence base to help inform, futureproof and ensure robust revised regulations as we review the Public Sector Equality Duty in Scotland.   This research aims to inform policy decisions on the review of the Public Sector Equality Duty in Scotland by researching international duties and how these compare to proposed and current duties in Scotland.   Specifically, the research specified has the following objectives:   To identify countries which have similar equality legislation to the current duties outlined in The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) (Scotland) Regulations 2012. We are looking for Race Equity Associates with expertise and experience in at least one of YEF’s main focus areas. While we are open to applications from individuals with experience in any of the focus areas, in 2023, we will be particularly interested in those with expertise in: Positive Activities: Structured sports, music, arts and outdoor activities can help young people develop social and emotional skills, which means they’re better able to express their feelings in constructive ways – reducing any violence or harm to others. These positive activities can also be used as ‘hooks’ to engage children and young people in other beneficial services and support. Therapies: Therapies used to help a child to deal better with challenging issues in their lives that might otherwise put them at risk of getting involved in violence. Race Equity Associates – Research & Evaluation will work alongside evaluators commissioned by YEF. We hope this will achieve two interconnected objectives: • To support YEF in embedding a race equity perspective in all its research and evaluations. • To increase the diversity of researchers contributing to the design and execution of YEF research and evaluations. We’re interested in applicants from a range of sectors, including research, academia, funding, government and community engagement. We’re particularly interested in hearing from applicants who have practical experience of informing and especially driving race equity within evaluations and research. Whilst we are interested in hearing from a people with a broad range of perspectives on evaluation and research, experience of working on impact evaluations, such as randomised control trials and quasi-experimental designs, would be an advantage.
