The "Programme d'appui au développement durable et intégré des communautés et des écosystèmes à Madagascar" (PADDI) is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), in collaboration with the Ministère de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable ( MEDD). The program aims to reduce the pressures on protected areas by promoting the sustainable and integrated development of communities living around national parks, as an alternative to the illegal exploitation of natural resources in protected areas. The program is implemented in close collaboration with other technical and financial partners, such as the European Union and the Agence française de développement (AFD), as part of the Team Europe Initiative on the Green Deal. PADDI is supporting local communities living around four protected areas in the regions of Boeny and Diana (Ankarafantsika, Ankarana,...
